Decision point

Before and after the test

Schedule ahead

Book through the BMV's online scheduler with your TIPIC, date of birth, and last four of your SSN. Reserve three to four weeks out.

After you pass

Bring your passing documentation, TIPIC, and identity documents to an official DMV or BMV office to be issued the license.

At the visit

Simple steps

  1. Schedule the test through Ohio BMV Online Services.
  2. Pass the maneuverability exercise and the road test at the exam station.
  3. Collect your passing documentation from the examiner.
  4. Come to an official DMV or BMV office with your documents to choose Standard or REAL ID and be issued your license.

Avoid a return trip

  • Do not come to an official DMV or BMV office expecting to take the road test. DMVQ does not administer testing.
  • Do not bring a vehicle that will fail inspection. Check signals, brakes, tires, and horn first.
  • Do not let your temps expire. Test and get licensed before your TIPIC lapses.
