At the visit

Simple steps

  1. Pass the knowledge test and get your TIPIC at an official DMV or BMV office.
  2. Complete driver training and supervised practice if under 18.
  3. Pass the skills test at a state driver exam station.
  4. Return to an official DMV or BMV office with your results and documents to be issued the license.

Avoid a return trip

  • Do not go to the exam station expecting a card. It gives a pass or fail; official DMV or BMV offices issue the license.
  • Do not forget driver-ed certificates. Under-18 issuance requires proof of completed training.
  • Do not bring photocopies of identity documents.
